The Universal Principles

After analyzing God’s covenants and commandments relating to humanity, it may be inferred that there are Universal Principles provided by the Creator of the universe which will promote peace, prosperity, and survival for all who follow them, no matter their race, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, religious beliefs (belief in God, agnostic, or atheist), economic status, or political affiliation and they are:

  1. Be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth by supporting the family structure created by God and by protecting innocent children (Survival). (Gen. 1:28; Matt. 18:6)
  2. Subdue the earth by being good stewards of the natural resources created by God (Natural Resources). (Gen. 1:28)
  3. Exercise dominion over and be good stewards of all the living things created by God (Living Things). (Gen. 1:28)
  4. Eat the flesh of animals, if we desire, but refrain from eating blood (Redemption). (Gen. 9:3-4)
  5. Treat other people the way we want to be treated, and treat the life of every human being as sacred (Social Harmony). (Matt. 7:12; Gen. 9:5-6)
  6. Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy by being a good steward of our physical body and mind (Human Body). (Ex. 20:8; 1 Cor. 6:19-20)
  7. Recognize and acknowledge when we have been proven to be wrong (Conviction). (Ps. 51:3-4; Jer. 3:13-15; 14:20)
  8. Confess when we are wrong (God’s Grace). (Ps. 32:5; 1 John 1:9)
  9. Repent of our wrongdoing (Spiritual Cleansing). (Jer. 18:8; Luke 17:3-4; Acts 3:19)
  10. Ask God, if there is belief in God, and those we have wronged for forgiveness, and forgive those who have treated us wrong (God’s Forgiveness). (Matt. 6:12, 14-15; Luke 6:37)

These Universal Principles were derived from the covenants that God has made with humanity and represent God’s will for humanity.  The first five principles deal with our relationship toward our fellow human beings and the earth.  The last five principles deal with our relationship toward self.  To resolve conflicts within government, we must come together as a community of faith to use God’s word to push toward a more perfect union as represented by the following scripture from Ephesians 6:10-17, which advises us to “Put on the whole armor of God:”

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and the power of his might.  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done (overcome) all, to stand.  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

(Eph. 6:10-17)
